A Taste of Pensacola: Pizzaioli Italian Cuisine
Felix Toussaint · Broker/OwnerAugust 31, 2026There is a moment, somewhere between the car door closing and the front door opening, when you find out what kind of restaurant you have walked into with three kids in tow. On a Sunday afternoon at Pizzaioli, that moment lasted about four minutes.
We got out of the car in the lot on South Blue Angel Parkway and the first thing that hit us was garlic and baking dough. You can smell the kitchen from the parking lot, which is either a very good sign or a very bad one, and here it is the good kind. Our kids picked up on it before we did.
The part that matters if you have kids
We were seated in under five minutes from walking through the door. On a Sunday. That alone is worth writing down.
Our waitress was Jackie, and I want to be specific about her because this is the whole reason we are writing about this place first. We have a two year old. She behaved exactly the way a two year old behaves in a restaurant, which is to say she was the loudest thing in the building, and at no point did Jackie look even slightly bothered. She was fine with kids being kids. If you have ever eaten out with a toddler and felt the temperature of a room drop, you understand why that lands.
The dining room itself is quiet and bright, tile floors, navy wainscoting, clean lines. It was not loud. Our family was the noise. Nobody seemed to mind, and on the way out other customers were saying goodbye to us and to each other, which is not something that happens at a restaurant where people are just getting through a meal.
There are high chairs. There is no separate kids' menu, but there is a kids' section on the regular menu, which worked fine for us.
The food
I ordered the Taste of Italy. It came out as a breaded cutlet under marinara and melted mozzarella with fettuccine in a cream sauce alongside, and it is a lot of plate for one person. It was very good.
My wife had a calzone, which arrived cut in half, dusted with parmesan and herbs, with a cup of marinara for dipping. The crust had real structure to it rather than the soft fold you sometimes get.
The kids shared a small cheese pizza, which is the truest test in our house and disappeared accordingly.
For the five of us, with the kids splitting a pizza, the bill came to about sixty dollars before tip. For a Sunday sit-down meal where nobody had to cook and nobody had to apologize for a toddler, that felt fair.
Would we go back
Yes, and we will. This is a neighborhood Italian place that seems to understand it is a neighborhood Italian place, and it is genuinely comfortable with families. That is a shorter list around here than you might think.

In our experience, yes. We ate there on a Sunday afternoon with three kids, including a two year old who was easily the loudest thing in the building, and nobody seemed bothered.
